WII-FM:
Are You Listening?

What's In
It For Me?
The
key to a successful website, one that keeps visitors at your site
and returning time and again, is carefully crafted and engaging
copy.
Visitors
are interested in solving their questions or problems and are, quite
frankly, not overly keen in learning that you may be the top producer
in your market, that you have 47 listings, that you have 25 years
experience and so on. Instead of telling them all about you, focus
on the question your visitors will be asking, "What's in it
for me?" "How will you solve my problem?", "What
are you going to do for me?".
Give
them solutions. Offer free information. Explain how you will help
them with their problem.
Most
realtors make the mistake of trying to sell to the client on their
website rather than to provide them with the information they really
want.
Internet
surfers are accustomed to having free information abundantly available.
If they don't find it on your website, they'll quickly move on to
a website that includes it, rather than contact you for more information.
How
do you go about creating content visitors will use and reuse? Get
back to basics:
For
Buyers:
If you were looking for a new home, what information would you seek?
Would you want some details about the neighbourhood you're searching
in? How about information about available areas services? Would
some suggestions about how to select a real estate professional
help? Would there be value in deterimining how much you could afford?
You get the idea. Keep your visitor's goals in mind and write your
content so they see you as an expert and want to work with you to
find their next dream property.
For
Sellers:
If you were thinking about or had decided to sell your home, what
information would you seek? Would you like to know what your home
is worth? How about how much homes in your neighbourhood have sold
for recently? Wouldn't it be nice to find information about how
to get your home ready for the sale and make it more sellable?
These
are just a few ideas but I'll bet you've already got quite a few
of your own. Remember to write for your visitor and you should increase
your website traffic and increase your leads as well!
